The Wyoming Department of Education provides leadership and support to local
school districts in the provision of secondary transition services for all
students with disabilities, from age sixteen to twenty one. Transition services
are required by Federal law in the Individuals with Disabilities in Education
Act (IDEA) and in Chapter 7 of Wyoming Administrative Rules and Regulations.
Transition services must be an outcome-oriented process that promotes movement
from high school to post high school activities. This process must be based on
the individual student’s needs, taking into account the student’s preferences
and interests. These services may include instruction, related services,
community experiences and when appropriate daily living skills.
